Physiotherapists assist people to restore, maintain, and maximize their strength, function, movement, and overall well-being. They have in-depth knowledge of how the body works, and how the body moves and are considered experts in the field of non-surgical treatment of a wide range of musculoskeletal problems and injuries, as well as their prevention. They use specialized hands-on clinical skills to assess, diagnose, and treat various conditions, injuries, and disabilities.

A small example of conditions treated include back pain, neck pain, muscle tension, headaches, sciatica, sports injuries, joint pain/injury such as knees, ankles, shoulders, elbows, and wrists, whiplash, arthritis, diabetes, spinal cord injury, nerve conditions, post-surgical, etc.

Chiropractic literally means done by hand and has a major focus on manual therapy techniques to help treat MSK issues.

Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on the neuromusculoskeletal systems, movement and general health. Chiropractors is a hands-on, manual therapy approach that includes examination, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitative and preventative care. In many cases the treatment is similar to physiotherapy and can overlap with massage as well.

Chiropractors are trained to recommend therapeutic exercises and utilize modalities, and can provide nutritional, dietary and lifestyle counselling. Chiropractic is often the primary method of treatment for back, neck, and shoulder pain or stiffness. Like physiotherapists, chiropractors function within a health care team to provide a complete health care plan that fits your individual needs.

People seek psychotherapy for a variety of reasons, which may include but is not limited to: life transitions, high stress, emotional distress, professional concerns, relationship problems, anxiety, depression, interpersonal difficulties etc. Some people may experience a general sense of “stuck-ness” in their lives. Psychotherapy is designed to create a safe and confidential space for clients to explore their difficulties, build awareness and facilitate positive change.

Philip Chen graduated from the University of Essex in the United Kingdom with a Masters of Science in Physiotherapy. Prior to that, he studied Bachelor’s in Kinesiology at the University of Toronto. A heavy interest in sports and athletics combined with an innate desire to help others heal and recover was the driving force that made Philip consider going down the route of physiotherapy.

Philip believes in treating the root cause of the health concern that is causing the symptoms. He uses a combination of manual/hands-on techniques, exercise prescription, therapeutic modalities and patient education to create an individualized treatment plan for each and every unique presentation that someone comes in with. Goal setting is used to help drive the treatment plan and work towards a purpose.

Outside of the clinic, Philip enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching sports, and occasionally travelling and seeing what the world has to offer.

Dr. Philip Ip graduated from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (2013) with a Doctorate of Chiropractic and McMaster University (2008) with a Bachelor of Medical Radiation Sciences. He has experience working in a multidisciplinary setting, providing interprofessional care amongst family physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, physiotherapists, massage therapists and other healthcare professionals. He has treated a variety of clients over the years with conditions such as sport injuries, disc injuries, postural conditions, post-surgical rehabilitation, etc. Philip uses a variety of skills and techniques to deliver effective and efficient treatment plans, including but not limited to: diversified chiropractic adjustments, manual therapy techniques, active rehabilitation, clinical acupuncture, mobility work, etc. He educates each client and works with them to achieve their overall health and wellness goals, allowing them to be at their very best.

She has also completed the Internationally Educated Professionals in Nutrition (IEPN) program from the Toronto Metropolitan University (recently renamed). She is an active member of the College of Dietitians of Ontario and is a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician.

Hatty is a Registered Psychotherapist and holds a Master’s Degree from Adler Graduate School and an Honors Bachelor of Science from The University of Toronto.
